NEW 2,100 members are enrolled by ASHI (Ahon sa Hirap, Inc.), a women-exclusive micro-finance institution under the Individually Paying Program of the corporation.
In a Memorandum of Agreement signed by Assistant Vice President Alberto C. Manduriao, Head of PhilHealth Regional Office VI and Mila Mercado-Bunker, ASHI President last April 18, 2008, the organization vowed to compulsorily enroll its members to the National Health Insurance Program and will pay in full the corresponding premium of P1,200 per annum of every member.
“Group enrollment scheme adopted by ASHI, distinct from KASAPI, facilitates membership of these women to the program and not only as dependents of their member-husband. Dependent children and parents of these members are also entitled to avail PhilHealth benefits ”, said Junie Sabusap, Head-PSO Antique.
PhilHealth Circular No. 5 series of 2008 requires that “all members and their dependents covered under the Individually Paying Program through the Group Enrollment Scheme shall be required to submit clear copy of Certificate of Premium Payment (CPP) Member Data Record (MDR) and duly accomplished PhilHealth Claim Form 1 to avail of the National Health Insurance Program benefits”.
With this, ASHI members can now enjoy the benefits of PhilHealth with payments made by the organization starting 2nd quarter 2008 until 1st quarter 2009.
“We are expecting for additional enrollees next year for ASHI shall compulsorily enroll all its members who are not yet covered in their initial set of enrollees”, said Junie Sabusap. “These members upon reaching the age of 60 and have at least paid 120 monthly contributions are entitled to be our Lifetime Members”, he added.
ASHI Antique Chapter has 5 branches consisting of numerous area offices saturated from South East to North West of Antique province with almost 3,500 members.
